How long is the show?
A typical show may be up to 30 minutes, though the most popular length is 15-20 minutes.  When appropriate, the show may also include audience participation.

 

 

Is it appropriate for children?

Yes, belly dance shows are family friendly. Children often love to dance, too!

Who provides the music?
Elena will provide her music on CD and the venue should provide the sound system (louder is better). Elena is always happy to discuss music with the client in advance to cater to any special requests.  Music can range from classical Arabic, to Persian pop, to Bollywood hits.

Is tipping appropriate?
Tipping is not required but it is a traditional and much appreciated gesture.  Unless the host has requested otherwise, the dancer will accept tips.  Tips may be thrown above the dancer’s head as a “money shower,” tucked into the armbands of her costume, or simply handed to her.

 



How far in advance should I make the booking?
This depends, although it is generally better to book sooner than later. If you are flexible about the time that the show begins, last minute shows can often be worked in.  Keep in mind that Saturday nights and weekends, particularly during wedding season (May - September) tend to book out completely.
